2014 … It’s off to a great start!

There is a cool, crispness in the air…I miss summer already but I do always look forward to the Fall.

Big cozy sweaters, knee high fashionable suede riding boots, different colors of lipsticks and eyeshadows, cooking new recipes for Thanksgiving, and decorating the house for Halloween!

Just as I’m wrapping my head around that, I’m also gearing up for 2014…oh yeah!

I have had my little beloved business now up and running for 15 months, and I went from 6 weddings in 2011, to approximately finishing off this year with 22, and that’s just Weddings alone, not to include Editorial, Graduation, Headshots, and everything else!
I feel blessed to be booking up for 2014, I’ve got 3 in the books and have quoted a handful more!
I can tell I am doing what I’m supposed to be doing, because I can’t wait to get back to Client’s to help plan their special event!
I’m lucky because every client is so different from the next…not one of the events I do is the same and never will be…and this is what keeps things exciting!

As a small business owner you learn as you go, and you stumble and fall, but you get back up and remember not to stumble in the spot again. You critique, you alter, you cater, you accomodate, you do whatever you need to do to move  onward and upward….but above all you stay true to yourself and run your business the way you want to, not the way other people want you to.

I got advice from a client in the first few months of my business and her advice is engraved in my mind…”don’t let your customer dictate how you run your business, and don’t be afraid to say no”. I think this is actually what makes us stronger and more successful.

As this year is coming to it’sfinal quarter, I can’t help but reflect on all the people that have supported me and just because I have completed their day, doesn’t mean they are far from my thoughts. I think of each and every Bride and Client who I had the honor of working with and including me in something that was very important to them, and I will never forget them…ever.

To be with families, and to be in people’s homes, and invited into private moments in their life…I am forever grateful.

If 2014 is half as good as 2013 was to me, then I will be thanking my blessings just as hard…because I love what I do and never want to stop!

So as 2014 approaches and I have another calendar year to look forward to, I will enjoy the remainder of 2013 and reflect on what has been brought into my life and just simply ‘Smile’!

In the meantime…I will enjoy some Fall Fashion, White Hot Chocolate, bold red wines, and enjoy cozy nights inside while ol’ man winter prepares to make a visit, and continue with this amazing ride I call my ‘Career Path of Choice 😉
